MEET ERIC

Welcome to Great West RV! Renting a motorhome is a terrific way to travel, see inspiring destinations, meet interesting people and create lifelong memories.

I’m excited to meet you, and I thought you’d like to know a bit about me too.

I grew up in a military family, moving 10 times in 17 years. When I was a kid I wanted to be a cowboy. After my freshman year I dropped out of college to be a ski bum in Sun Valley.

Since then I’ve worked as a part-time professional musician, a dishwasher, busboy, maid, stock handler, cashier, laborer, lumberman, parts bagger in a factory, forklift operator, pickup and delivery driver, warehouse manager, pool hall/bowling alley manager, data-entry operator (and a manager of the same), management consultant, project manager, computer operator, network manager, software developer, carpenter, aluminum window-and-door installer, irrigation system installer, and woodworker.

So how did I end up starting Great West RV? I bought my first RV in 2018. The first trip we took was amazing. We had an awesome time, memorable in many ways and more comfortable than any previous camping trip and I was hooked on RV’ing. It was then I realized others would enjoy RV’ing as much as we did given the right opportunity. With that, the idea for Great West RV was born.

What’s a typical day like for you?

I get up around 6:45 am and take care of a few things around the house – then I’m off to work. I’ll review my email and calendar, and put together a to-do list for the day. From there, it might be meeting with people, working with customers, maintaining my RV’s, or helping out a friend. Later in the day when we eat dinner, we almost always watch Jeopardy – I’ve been watching it since I was a fourth-grader. It’s a simple routine that I enjoy mostly because of all the interesting people I get to meet.

What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your GWRV?

I like people, and I’m genuinely invested in helping make their vacations memorable and excellent, so that means a lot of different skills. Attention to detail is critical, listening to the customer likewise, and those are assets I possess. Since I’m a mechanic and a “fixer”, I can see both physical and situational problems and find ways to address them effectively. Mostly, though, I think I am skilled at understanding and reading people, and knowing what to do to address their wants and needs.

What’s your favorite RV trip?

Our first one – we took our RV to a festival in Winfield, KS. It was almost magical it was so easy and convenient. By far we were the most comfortable we’d ever been at that festival, and it got us hooked. The weather was cool and rainy on a couple of nights, and in the past we’ve been stuck with little to do in our wet and windy tent, but in the RV, the weather wasn’t an issue. And having a bathroom in the middle of the night – are you kidding me??? An incredible convenience. The availability of electricity to run the coffee grinder, coffee maker, and phone chargers is great, and a full kitchen out of the wind sure is handy when Kansas is blowing by at 30 knots.

What is your Guiding Principle?

As a cancer survivor, I realize every day is a gift. I encourage everyone I meet to make the very most of their moments, experiences and days.

I can’t wait to help you have your RV experience with Great West RV. I’ll do whatever I can to make your trip a memorable experience…you have my word.
